Villages of the Haut-Var
Discover our region
The Haut-Var is full of picturesque villages of rich heritage that are truly worth going out the way to see. Our estate is located in the village of Villecroze. Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, it has preserved its medieval character with its arcades, its narrow lanes, its fountains and its Chapel Saint-Victor.
Nearby, you’ll find Tourtour, classed as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France” and overlooking a large portion of Provence from its high location. There’s also Cotignac, stronghold of artists and celebrities with its winding lanes and pebble-lined streets, as well as Sillans-la-Cascade, tucked away in a green setting with its walls, its castle and its church. There’s also Lorgues, a typical Provençal village shaded by large plane trees, as well as Salernes at the side of the hills and known for its terracotta tile workshops. Barjols is famed for its old tanneries and is cooled by the water of its 42 fountains and wash-houses, while Aups, nestled at the foot of the Montagne des Espiguières in a green setting of pines, oaks and olive trees, is the regional capital for black truffles. There’s also Régusse upon its rocky peak and surrounded by woods and hills, plus don’t forget the superb villages of Verdon such as Moustiers Sainte-Marie (famed for its faïence earthenware), Bauduen, Aiguines, Esparron, Sainte-Croix, La Palud-sur-Verdon and Trigance.
